Our Story
When we purchased Buryford Farms (now Finger Lakes Wood Products) from Bill Alguire & Frank Herringshaw in 2021, we took on more than a business. Along with their inventory came a legacy of supporting local logging families & providing customers with unsurpassed quality.
Working with a network of more than 50 local loggers, we source sustainably-harvested timber from around the region. In fact, most of our wood was harvested within an hour drive of Dolgeville.
We feel good about harvesting wood locally, where we know generations of loggers have cared for the land. Local is better for our loggers, for the environment, and our rural economy.
We grew up in the Adirondack forests, working alongside our father logging & sawing lumber. Bucky went on to get his forest management degree from Paul Smith College before returning to work at Rawlings as a log buyer & sawmill supervisor. Today, he & and his wife Rachel, run day to day operations at the mill, while Brendt manages the finances.
It's a family business in the truest sense of the word.
